AVEX wins 2024 GPA Innovation Award for transformation NBC Conference Centre
Following the devastating fire in 2022, the NBC Conference Centre faced a crucial decision. Should the venue be rebuilt as it was before, or was this the perfect opportunity to set a new standard for the events industry?
Together with AVEX, NBC opted for the latter.
This vision has led to international recognition: at the GPA Global Summit 2024, AVEX received the GPA Brad Sousa Innovation Award, the award for the most innovative audiovisual project of the year.
A future-proof event venue
The aim was clear: to create a conference and events venue that offers visitors an exceptional audiovisual experience whilst being prepared for the demands of tomorrow. By combining technology, ease of use and flexibility, AVEX and NBC transformed the new conference centre into a fully integrated, state-of-the-art events venue.
The result is an environment where organisers can focus on their event, whilst audiovisual technology enhances and supports the experience.
International recognition for innovation
The GPA Awards are presented annually at the GPA Global Summit. The most pioneering audiovisual projects from more than 25 GPA Regional Business Units worldwide are assessed on the basis of innovation, impact and technical quality.
The Brad Sousa Innovation Award was presented for the first time in 2024. The award is named after Brad Sousa, an internationally respected innovator within the audiovisual industry and former CTO of AVI Systems.
The fact that this particular project was honoured with this award underlines the innovative value of the solution developed in collaboration with NBC.

Also nominated for the AV Awards
In addition to the GPA Innovation Award, the NBC project was also nominated as a finalist for the international AV Awards. This means that the innovative approach behind this project is receiving global recognition within the audiovisual sector.
Innovation starts with an ambition
The success of the NBC Conference Centre demonstrates what is possible when technology is utilised from the design phase onwards to enhance the user experience.
By looking beyond mere restoration, an events venue has been created that offers new possibilities for organisers, visitors and clients.
