From challenge to innovative event venue

Today, a successful event venue is about much more than a physical space.

When the NBC Conference Centre was severely damaged by fire in September 2022, the challenge was not only to rebuild.

It was also an opportunity to create a venue ready for the future.

Together with NBC, AVEX transformed the project from restoration into innovation.

The result is a state-of-the-art conference centre where audiovisual technology plays a central role.

An award-winning AV project with international impact

The Inavation Awards are widely regarded as one of the most prestigious recognitions in the global AV industry.

Reaching the shortlist alone was a significant achievement. Winning the Venues & Event Spaces category makes the recognition even more meaningful.

The award demonstrates that Dutch AV innovation can compete with the very best projects worldwide.

About the project: a conference centre built for the future

Following the fire, NBC Conference Centre and AVEX worked together to create a venue that delivers an entirely new experience for visitors and event organisers.

One of the most striking features is the largest 3D projection set in the Netherlands.

Spanning more than 45 metres in width, this impressive stage concept gives organisers new opportunities to create visually impactful events.

In addition, AVEX designed and implemented an advanced AV-over-IP infrastructure that connects the entire audiovisual ecosystem throughout the venue.

Smart AV-over-IP technology delivers maximum flexibility

By adopting AV-over-IP technology, NBC Conference Centre benefits from a flexible and future-proof audiovisual network.

Every network port can function as a potential AV connection point, making it simple to route signals and adapt spaces to different event requirements.

From a central Master Control Room, the NBC AV team can manage audiovisual equipment throughout the venue.

The system supports:

• Hospitality areas
• 22 breakout rooms
• Two large event halls
• Presentation and content management
• Digital wayfinding
• Customer branding

This approach not only improves operational efficiency but also enhances the experience for visitors, organisers and venue staff.

Strong international competition

The Venues & Event Spaces category included an impressive line-up of international projects from countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, Hong Kong and India.

Being selected as a finalist among these projects was already an achievement. Being chosen as the winner makes the recognition truly exceptional. The award highlights the innovation, technical expertise and partnership behind this project.
